Audit Risk Reality in a Post-Wayfair World Pete Olanday, Retail Practice Leader - Vertex Audit Risk Reality in a Post-Wayfair World While indirect tax may seem a common phenomenon in the United States and throughout the world, it is undeniably complicated. Not surprisingly, many businesses are not managing it correctly. There are literally thousands of state and local jurisdictions for tax in the United States. A company’s sales and use tax compliance is complicated already, so the addition of value added tax (VAT) and goods and services tax (GST) can expose unprepared companies to significant risk. This presentation by Vertex, Inc. will focus on the new world reality facing global retailers who are seeking to minimize risk and uncertainty in their finance and operations. |

Commerce Marketing Automation with Marketo Nidhi Arora, Marketing Head - Envision Ecommerce Commerce Marketing Automation with Marketo Jeff Bezos used a slightly different analogy when he said of Amazon, “We see our customers as invited guests to a party, and we are the hosts. It's our job every day to make every important aspect of the customer experience a little better.” People still crave personalized shopping experiences. But instead of tailors or seamstresses, marketers are the purveyors of the customer experience. Instead of measuring tape, we use data to make the right suggestions for our customers. And we deliver those recommendations through marketing automation. Automation and the ROI of Customer Experience. Marketing automation isn't exactly an emerging technology. Rather, it's the smart application of this software that's revolutionizing unified commerce. Too many marketers still use automation as a way to push endless amounts of email when it's really a tool for personalizing the customer experience. The items that are displayed on a page, the offers that pop-up on our sites, and yes, the emails we send, are all part of the customer experience. There's an army of statistics that support the ROI of better customer experience, but here's one that stands out: Customers who have excellent experiences with a business will spend 140% more with that business compared to consumers who had the poorest experiences. So there it is. That's a quantifiable value for delivering a better customer experience. But how can you use automation to make strides toward that customer experience? You're not Amazon; you don't have an army of analysts or space-age AI to call on. Never fear. Automation has been around long enough that there are well-established tactics you can use to immediately improve your customer experience. |

Oleksandr Lyzun, Magento Technical Lead - comwrap Magento has a great framework, which is available since 2.1.0 version and called "Magento Message Queue Framework (MMQF)". Since it first release it was improved from release to release, and a lot of modules and integrations are currently using MMQF as part of their functionality. At the current moment, Magento supports only 2 different queuing systems: own database queue implementation and RabbitMQ. And the main question which appearing more often, is "Which other queuing system are going to be supported by Magento and when?". Goal of this presentation, is to have a look at existing queuing solutions, and try to predict which one could be easily integrated in Magento and be used in near future, and which one we do not need to even think about as core implementation. |

How to distinguish your Magento agency from all others?! Lessons learned from the Hypernode certification Sanne Bolkenstein, Chief Commercial Officer - Hypernode How to distinguish your Magento agency from all others?! Lessons learned from the Hypernode certification As a hosting company, we aim to partner with Magento agencies to deliver optimal results to merchants: a safe, stable, and scalable solution for blazingly fast Magento shops with growth ambitions. With a network of over 100 partner agencies, we've learned quite a lot about Magento development and the challenges, be it technical, commercial, or organizational, that agencies face when positioning themselves in the Magento market. We took this knowledge and translated it into standards for the Hypernode certification, the only certification on agency level. During this talk, Sanne will introduce you in more detail about what criteria we defined (for instance: a Hypernode certified agency has updated at least 80% of their Magento 2 shops to the latest version within 4 weeks after the release of this version or has installed a security-only patch within 4 weeks after the release of this patch), why we've selected these criteria and how we've defined ambitious, but realistic standards together with our partners. After the introduction of the program, we will go more in-depth. We will give more insights into what distinguishes a Hypernode Certified Agency and share their best practices regarding performance, security, and deployment with you. After this talk, you'll have enough tools and inspiration to get started and become a Hypernode Certified Agency! The talk would be interesting for agency directors/commercial directors, to learn about what a certification could do for your agency and what USP's you can use to distinguish yourself from your competitors. It would also be interesting for merchants to learn about what criteria they should consider when choosing an agency to work with. |

As a part of this, the community was introduced to our plans for headless storefront applications starting with the catalog storefront service. While we intend to keep GraphQL as the front-facing API for storefront services, the services themselves will be gRPC services instead of REST or GraphQL. We are converging towards making gRPC the standard mechanism for intra-service communication. This talk will go into why we made this choice and the advantages gRPC brings to the table. We will go into concrete Magento use cases and how gRPC can be employed by storefront services, in the context of extensibility. |
